Wild Oats Wines based at Mudgee NSW owned by one of Australia’s best known yachting identities, the Oatley Family, have recently signed as the Platinum Sponsor with Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club for the ensuing 12 months.
The Manly 16ft Skiff Club founded in 1923 right in Manly Cove on Sydney Harbour, has occupied the same site since 1928 when the first club building was constructed by club members. A very popular venue for members and guests during the summer months, the club has a large waterfront deck which provides a relaxed atmosphere for all to view the harbour happenings whilst enjoying a cold beer or a glass of Wild Oats wine accompanied by first class brassiere style food.
Manly 16ft Skiff Clubs’ Sailing Manager, Brad Andrew said “We are delighted to have on board one of Australia’s best known sailing families, the Oatleys, to be involved in our 2008/09 sponsorship program .”
“We are looking towards a long and fruitful relationship that we trust will benefit both parties.”
Oatley Family Wines located in the rich wine growing region of Mudgee in Central Western NSW, officially began trading in 2006 however the Oatleys have played an important part in the Australian wine industry since their first vintage (at Rosemount Estate) in 1974.
Three ranges have been released – Robert Oatley, named for Oatley Wines’ founder and representing the best wines we can make for each year; Wild Oats, named for Bob’s madly successful super maxi yacht Wild Oats XI; and Montrose, an historic Mudgee label inherited and revived by the family.
