Puma Activate Race with ‘Mast Challenge’

Puma continue to bring their sports marketing knowledge to the business of yacht racing.

In conjunction with the current Volvo Ocean Race entry, Puma ambassadors David Bentley (Tottenham Hotspur), Paul Sackey (London Wasps) and Lucy Boggis (Triathlon/Gladiators) will join other Puma stars as part of a public ‘Mast Challenge’ in London’s Potters Field.

A replica of Puma’s il’ Mostro will give the general public and media the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with the race, in which Puma arrived to Singapore in second place.

The ‘mast challenge’ is the public’s opportunity to come and winch each other up the 100 ft mast of the Volvo 70 racing yacht and gain some insight into what it would be like to be thousands of miles from land with a 40 knot wind ranging around your head. PUMA ambassadors will be donning their sailing clothes and having a go introducing the ‘mast challenge’ from the relative safety of the dock next to the London landmark, City Hall.

As more sponsors come to sailing from other sports, this kind of best practise will hopefully become the norm.
