Helly Hansen, has announced it has signed British Class 40 sailor, Hannah White, to its International Sponsorship Programme. The sponsorship adds to sailing sponsorships including the Ericsson Volvo Ocean Racing team.
Although the Class 40 is growing, it is still overshadowed by the larger IMOCA 60 boats in races where they compete together. Over the next two years, Hannah will be focusing on the Class 40 circuit, with plans to compete in several Transatlantic races such as the 2009 OSTAR, Class 40 Worlds and the gruelling Global Ocean Challenge, which will see her sail single-handed around the world.
As a Helly Hansen athlete, Hannah will work alongside the brand’s design team to assist in the development of an offshore clothing collection created exclusively for women, by women. Focusing on fit and designs, she will use her extensive offshore sailing experience to impact on the new range. In addition, Hannah will work closely with Helly Hansen UK and International to raise awareness of the brand, whilst developing her own profile as an international sailor.
Hannah said: “After four years of working alongside Helly Hansen UK, I am absolutely delighted to be extending this partnership. I have always believed in the brand and am very excited about working with the design team at Helly Hansen in Norway. Helly Hansen’s support of my single-handed offshore sailing career will not only help me to build my sailing profile, but will also allow me the opportunity to act as an ambassador for this dynamic and exciting brand.”
Karl Einar V. Jensen, Marketing Manager Watersports said:
“Helly Hansen is delighted to sponsor Hannah. Our technical, leading edge clothing has been designed to keep racers like Hannah safe when out on the water, and in the performance zone. Her determination and enthusiasm to compete, makes the partnership a great fit.”
Hannah is currently looking for a title sponsor to support her upcoming sailing programme.
