SLAM has become the title sponsor for the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association. The ‘Advanced Technology Sportswear’ company will present the 2009 National Championship Series (NCS).
USMCA Class President Travis Weisleder said:
‘This is a win-win sponsorship and opportunity for both SLAM and the Melges 24. The Championship Series is designed to motivate more Melges 24 teams across the country to participate in not only their local club events, but also their regional events. This sponsorship, combined with our new dues structure is all within our 2009 goals of increasing membership and awareness of the class, while still having fun. What we have created is an incredible cross section of 30 regattas nationwide to reach deep into the heart of the Melges 24 fleet and expose teams to a higher level of competition with very little effort and cost.’
The title sponsorship deal is a step up for SLAM in the class. For the last two years, SLAM has supported the USMCA as well as many teams within the fleet.
