Forget the Globe and Herald, we at Bostonist are quickly catching sailing fever. The mainstream media may not realize it, but those of us who were waiting for the boats along the Seaport saw there was a small but hardcore & knowledgeable following there. Being a more recent Boston transplant I'm only just beginning to explore the significant sailing tradition of the area, but hopefully will bring some people with me for the ride.

It's not just newspapers and sports marketing firms that ignore sailing. It's never listed as a sport on websites, despite olympic status. It's always lifestyle – or hobby. Shame.

Unfortunately, your article is so true about Boston. Maybe they should consider a port where there are more sailing fans. I live North of Boston across the Harbor in Marblehead. Lots of fans there but not but enough for a VOR stop over.
