While Cowes Week is still looking for a replacement Title Sponsor to replace Skandia, the other sailing festival previously sponsored by the financial services company is going from strength to strength with the support of new sponsor, Audi.
The Royal Geelong Yachy Club, hosts of Audi Victoria Week, have announced a huge fleet of 441 yachts.
Regatta chairman and RGYC vice commodore Andrew Neilson said:
“As usual we have made a few changes to freshen things up including adding a production division to the Docklands Invitational event, and adding another off-the-beach class, the Formula 18s, with 25 18 foot skiffs from around the country making their way to Geelong to add plenty of razzle dazzle.
“With Audi coming on board as the new naming rights sponsor of the event, this is the start of a new era. We acknowledge the involvement of Audi as the new major sponsor as well as all our support sponsors.”
The regatta is also taking heed of best practise in other areas, making the yacht racing part of a larger festival. In addition to the racing program, the shoreside program boasts a bumper mix of entertainment and activities.
Over 60 live acts with artists including Darryl Braithwaite, Wendy Matthews, Brian Mannix, Scott Carne and Sean Kelly will perform across three waterfront stages.
