It’s Boat Show time in London again. The usual pomp and ceremony will happen today with some unknown tabloid celebrity wheeled out at Excel to open the show in order to try and make boating appeal to the masses.
We’re not going to be at the press day today. Instead we are in much warmer climes, but boat shows have very little to do with yacht racing anyway, with the exception of clothing manufacturers who do quite a good job of activating sponsorships to sell kit.
Most clothing companies will display their associations with elite sailors who need their gear to survive the Southern Ocean or keep them comfortable on the flying hull of a 90 ft trimaran, but Musto is promoting an association with a completely different kind of elite.
The company has been granted two Royal Warrants from Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
The Royal Warrant is an accreditation given to a company that has supplied its products to The Royal Household over a period of five years or more. Musto has provided quality outdoor clothing for country sports and sailing to both Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to facilitate their outdoor lifestyle.
Musto’s CEO, Nigel Musto, commented:
“Musto has always strived to produce the highest quality performance clothing, so we are extremely proud to have this honour bestowed upon us at a time of significant growth for our business. We are very much looking forward to continuing to supply The Royal Household for many years to come.”
All the company has to do now is integrate the new ambassadors into their social media strategy. The latest tweet from the official Musto feed says:
