Tacktick will sponsor the Sigma 33 Class Championship during Cowes Week 2010.
Commenting on the Tacktick Suunto sponsorship announcement, Jeff Worboys, Class Chairman, said:
“We are delighted to have the backing of Tacktick Suunto for our Class Championships. This is a cutting edge British company whose products help to keep us up to date as a one design fleet and competitive in IRC fleets. Having just upgraded to the new Micronet range on my own ‘33’, I can honestly say that Tacktick have developed a great system, easy to install and an ideal wireless solution for any Sigma 33 owner looking to replace old instruments, producing all the tactical and navigational data you will ever need.”
The Sigma 33 OOD was designed by David Thomas in 1979 and of the 360 boats built more than 100 still race regularly in fleets throughout the British Isles making it one of the most popular one design classes in yachting history. The Class’s continued popularity is in no small part due to the strong Class Association which has permitted modernising developments to the yacht and its equipment whilst at the same time preserving its strict one design status.
