Well if you are Corum, the Swiss watchmaker you could host a Virtual regatta and use a well known sailor like Loick Peyron to drag delegates away from their lunch and networking.
Delegates in Estoril for the event will also have a chance to win a limited edition watch.
Corum uses sailors as brand ambassadors to help promote to the desirable audience that make up professional yacht racing. The brand counts Triple gold and silver Olympic medalist Ben Ainslie and veteran global ocean racer & multihull skipper Loick Peyron among their sponsored sailors.
The Virtual Corum Regatta will take place for the first time during WYRF 2010. Jointly created by Corum and Virtual Regatta, this game will be officially launched in 2011. However, delegates from the World Yacht Racing Forum and Yacht Racing Design & Technology Symposium will have the opportunity to discover it ahead of its official launch, and to play in the lounge area. A Corum Admiral’s Cup Chronograph (limited edition, Bol d’Or Mirabaud) will then be drawn between the participants whilst Loïck Peyron – who will also be a keynote speaker on the Forum’s second day – will compete in an exhibition match against a top skipper.
The World Yacht Racing Forum 2010 will take place on 14-15 December in Estoril, Portugal. The event is twinned with two other important marine conferences, the Yacht Racing Design & Technology Symposium and the International Superyacht Coatings Conference. The events are managed by the Informa Yacht Group, which is in turn part of the Informa Sports Group.
Yachtsponsorship.com, as a media partner of the event have created a dedicated page for all the news from the 2010 World Yacht Racing Forum. The page includes archive news stories from the 2009 WYRF event in Monaco as well as a Tweet stream of updates including the hashtag #WYRF.
