The sport of yacht racing is a broad church. Some people love the Olympic classes, some people are into offshore solo racing, some crewed.   • World Match Racing Tour – The winner of the WMRT is crowed the ISAF World Champion of Match Racing. It is the only annual global series that visits multiple continents and until recently has been the path for America’s Cup skippers who wanted to be the best match racers in the world. Skippers like Russell Coutts, Ed Baird, Magnus Holmberg and Peter Gilmour have built great sailing careers on success in the World Match Racing Tour.   • World Yacht Racing Forum – For the last few years, the Informa Sports Group have organised a conference for the who’s who of the business of yacht racing to discuss the commercial aspects of the sport of sailing. The 5th man concept, which allows VIP Guests to ride aboard the boats during the race is an unforgettable experience that has been copied by other sailing rights holders.   • Sailing and Yacht Racing Business News from the UK. – The UK has some of the most competitive sailing in the world. The Solent is packed with famous races including the Annual Cowes Week and Round the Island Race. The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) organises the challenging offshore Fastnet Race and the country will hold the Olympic sailing at Portland and Weymouth in 2012. The UK produces great offshore competitors like Dee Caffari and Sam Davies, Olympic champions like Ben Ainslie and record breaking maxi campaigns like Mike Slade’s ICAP Leopard. Despite all this, the UK has never been successful at winning back the America’s Cup that began around the Isle of Wight in 1851.
