Inaugural Awards for the British Marine Industry will be presented in 2012.
New awards have been designed to recognise the best of the marine economy in Britain. The Awards will cover a wide range of activities including apparel, manufacturing, broking, leisure, design sport and even sponsorship.
The awards, which are supported by the British Marine Federation (BMF), were announced at the Tullet Prebon International Boat Show. Press were given an insight into this programme to reward excellence.
The judging panel for these prizes will be chaired by legendary British sailing veteran Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. He was quoted in the press release saying:
The marine industry in the UK is not only a crucial part of the nation’s economy, it is vibrant, exciting and in many cases world-beating. Now we have a chance to celebrate the sector’s hard work formally. If you work in an organisation involved in the British Marine Industry and you believe in the excellence of your work, then I urge you to participate. I want award winners to be outstanding by virtue of their own achievements but also because of the calibre of competition they beat!
